  Who are you and what do you do? Joe Holmes, Team Coach for Bremerton.

  How long have you been climbing? Since 1991.

  How long have you been on the Vertical World Climbing Team? First year coach, worked for company since 2003.

  Is there something about climbing team that is better than anything else in the world? I get paid to make kids better climbers.

  Anything about climbing team that is worse than anything else in the world?

 Do you enjoy working hard to climb or hardly work to climb? Climb now, work later.

  How many times has Tyson told you to “keep the body tight”? Now that would be an awkward silence.

  What other activities do you do?  Race bikes.

  Have you sustained any injuries from climbing, besides mental ones? Tendon injury in a finger, bruised heel.

  Where is your favorite place to climb? New River Gorge.

  Who do you like climbing with? Anyone who is safe and fun to be around.

  What are your hopes and dreams for this competition season? That the kids succeed in the goals they have set for themselves.

  What are your feelings toward competition climbing? Do you feel it is necessary to keep you motivated to climb hard? For me, definitely not.

  When you feel weak, what should you do? Work harder.

  What has climbing and climbing team done for your life? The positives and or the negatives. Climbing has allowed me to meet interesting people and see views I would never had a chance to see any other way.

  What would you consider a successful day of climbing? If you milked every last bit of daylight out of the day for one last pitch.

  If there was one person on team you would want to leave hanging from a rope and hit with a stick like a piñata, who would it be? What are you going to do to make that happen? Whomever was whining about whatever workout I was making them do.

  One thing we don’t know about you at team? That’s for me to know.

  What is it like being a part of one of the best climbing teams in the country, let alone the world?
