September 13th 2008 - Adopt-a-Crag Trail Work, Newhalem WA

Members of VERTICAL WORLD CLIMBING TEAM partnered with the Access Fund, Washington Trails Association, Washington Climbers Coalition and Rangers from the North Cascades Park Service on Saturday in the construction of a new trail on Saturday.

Details of the event can be found here:  http://www.wta.org:80/~wta/cgi-bin/wtaweb.pl?agDB+16603

After a 6 year moratorium on new route development in the Newhalem area, the local climbing community has come together with the Park Service in allowing the development of a new climbing area. The first process is the construction of a trail to the base of the crag. This was a very important step in getting access to the area, and the VERTICAL WORLD CLIMBING TEAM was happy to be involved. It is the hopes of all members involved in this event that climbers will use the trail created, practice the "Leave No Trace" ethics, and enjoy this fantastic developing climbing area for years to come.
