What does the competitive season schedule consist of?

The Bouldering Season (ABS) starts for the team approximately in October, with competitions held at local gyms in the Washington and Oregon area. Each competitor is required by the ABS to attend two local area bouldering competitions, to qualify for the opportunity to possibly receive an invite to the ABS Youth National Event. In order for a competitor to receive and invite, they must complete the two regular season bouldering competition, and place high enough at the Regional Championship to go. The Regional Championship Event is held in January, and the Youth National Bouldering Championship is held in February.

The PNW Region's Sport Climbing Season (SCS) which includes Top Rope, Lead and Speed Climbing starts approximately at the end of February and runs through May. SCS competitions are also held at local gyms in the Washington and Oregon area. For the SCS season, competitors are required to attend three comps instead of two to advance to the Regional Championship Event. The top six competitors each gender/age category will be invited to advance to the Division 1 Championship in June. The Division 1 Championship is made up of the top climbers in the PNW, NOCAL and BIGSKY Regions.

The top six competitors each gender/age category will be invited to advance to the US National Championship in July. Those that place in the top four at Nationals will earn a place on the United States Climbing Team, and then to represent the United States at the Youth World Event in August.
